Agricultural Specialty Industry Needs Support

China Collective Economy December 5, 2025

By NewsChina Updated Feb.1

As a crucial booster to China’s agricultural modernization and integrated urban-rural development, rural specialty products, local to their regions, have achieved remarkable progresses in terms of scale, diversity and marketing. However, still in their nascent stages, specialty agricultural industries face challenges in marketing, financing and talent nurturing. The increasing access of foreign specialty products into the Chinese market has intensified competition and triggered price wars. Insufficient investment and product lines have deterred the industry’s innovation and productive capacity. Poor education provision has caused population outflow and brain drain, while policies designed to boost local industries have struggled to take effect, largely due to bureaucratic red tape. To remove the obstacles, experts suggest the industry expand markets through e-commerce channels, such as livestream sales, introduce targeted subsidies and capital, launch advanced industrial facilities and create a better environment for well-trained workers and high-end talents.
